Albania Flag with Pole Hem

The flag of Albania, located in the Balkans, depicts the black silhouette of a double-headed eagle against a black background. The crest comes from Kastrioti coat-of-arms and gained popularity when George Kastriot Skanderbeg led a partially successful struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire in the Middle Ages. It resurfaced more recently by Albanian nationalists seeking independence from the Ottoman Empire in the 19th and 20th centuries. The double-headed eagle was adopted as a national emblem after sovereignty in 1912 and the current flag was adopted in 1992. Albania is the only sovereign state with a wholly red and black flag.

This flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a 3 in. pole hem for hanging. Its image is single sided and reversed on the back. This flag is suitable for indoor or parade use.

This flag is used by Albania's government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
