Bahrain Flag with Pole Hem and Fringe

The oldest Bahrain flags were plain red. A white stripe was added in 1820 to indicate a truce with the United Kingdom. The serrated edge of 28 white points was added to distinguish Bahrain’s flag from its neighbors’ in 1932. The points were reduced to eight in 1972, then to five in 2002. The points now stand for the Five Pillars of Islam.

This flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a 3 in., flannel-lined pole hem and bordered with gold rayon fringe. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back. This flag is suitable for indoor or parade use.

This flag is used by Bahrain’s government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
