The current Belgian flag was adopted in 1831 after gaining independence from the Netherlands. The colors are taken from the coat of arms of the Brabant province. The flag’s vertical stripes are modeled after France’s flag. From left to right, the colors are black, yellow, and red.
This flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a 3 in., flannel-lined pole hem and bordered with gold rayon fringe. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back. This flag is suitable for indoor or parade use.
This flag is used by Belgium’s government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
