Cape Verde adopted this flag in 1992 during its struggle for independence from Guinea-Bissau. The flag's 10 yellow, five-pointed stars represent the country's main islands, while the blue background represents the ocean. The red and white bands represent the road to constructing an independent state. The white stands for peace, while the red symbolizes effort.
This flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a 3 in., flannel-lined pole hem with Velcro hang tab and bordered with gold rayon fringe. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back. This flag is suitable for indoor or parade use.
