The Moroccan flag, adopted in 1915, consists of a black-bordered green pentagram on a red background. Red is a historically significant color for Morocco that proclaimed the royal Alaouite family's decent from the prophet Mohammad. The color was also used by the Sherifs of Mecca and the Imams of Mecca. Red represents hardiness, victory, strength, and valor. The green, 5-pointed star represents Solomon's seal.
This outdoor flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a sturdy white canvas heading and grommets. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back.
This flag is used by Morocco's government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
