The Marshall Islands’ flag, adopted in 1979, was designed by First Lady Emlain Kabua .The star shows the islands’ geographic position above the equator, represented by the diagonal band. The star has 24 points to show the number of electoral districts. The 4 elongated points represent 4 primary cultural centers. The white and orange portions of the diagonal band represent the Ratak and Ralik chains, as well as peace and courage.
This flag is dyed on silky, lustrous rayon and is hemmed and mounted to a 10 in. black pole that includes a gold-painted spear. Base not included.
