Legend holds that Qatar’s flag used to be red but changed to maroon in the sun. The color was considered more beautiful and adopted as Qatar red. The maroon on this flag represents Qatar’s wars, while the white hoist symbolizes peace. The nine points show that Qatar is the 9th member of the “reconciled emirates” of the Persian Gulf. This flag was adopted in 1971.
This flag is dyed on silky, lustrous rayon and is hemmed and mounted to a 10 in. black pole that includes a gold-painted spear. Base not included.
