Thailand adopted this flag in 1917. The colors are said to stand for nation-religion-king, an unofficial motto of Thailand. Red stands for land and the people, white represents Theravada Buddhism, and blue symbolizes the monarchy. Because Thailand declared war on Germany in the same year, the colors may have been chosen to show support for France and Britain.
This flag is dyed on silky, lustrous rayon and is hemmed and mounted to a 10 in. black pole that includes a gold-painted spear. Base not included.
