New Zealand’s flag was designed in 1869 and adopted as the national flag in 1902. It takes its design from the British Blue Ensign. The Union Jack in the upper-left corner signifies New Zealand’s colonial ties to Britain. This flag also features the Southern Cross, a major constellation in the Southern Hemisphere, in reference New Zealand’s geographic location.
This outdoor flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a sturdy white canvas heading and grommets. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back.
