This flag was first raised on Djibouti’s day of independence, June27, 1977. Green represents the earth, blue stands for the sea and sky, and white stands for peace. The red star symbolizes unity and its 5 points represent the 5 areas in the region where Somalis live.
This outdoor flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a sturdy white canvas heading and grommets. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back.
This flag is used by Djibouti’s government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
