Sudan's flag, adopted in 1970, gets its colors from the Arab Liberation Flag. These colors are historically linked with Islam and represent Arab unity. Red represents Sudan's struggle for independence and the blood of its martyrs. White represents peace, light, and optimism. Black represents Sudan, which means "black" in Arabic. Green is for Islam, agriculture, and prosperity.
This outdoor flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a sturdy white canvas heading and grommets. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back.
This flag is used by Sudan's government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
