Scotland’s flag, also known as St. Andrew’s Cross or the Saltire, dates from the 16th century. The X shape comes from the story of St. Andrew, Scotland’s patron saint, who was crucified on an X-shaped cross. According to legend, Oengus II led an army into battle in 832. An X in the sky led him to victory, leading to this flag design and also to St. Andrew’s appointment as patron saint of Scotland.

This flag is printed on cotton muslin and mounted to a 10 in. natural wood dowel staff. This flag uses a variant shad of blue. Base not included.
