Slovakia adopted this flag in 1992. However the flag's basic design has been used off and on since the revolutionary year 1848. This flag includes the Pan-Slavic colors which now stand for Slavic unity and independence. The emblem was taken from Hungary's coat of arms. The patriarchal cross represents Orthodox Christianity and the mountains symbolize 3 mountainous regions across the country.
This outdoor flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a sturdy white canvas heading and grommets. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back.
This flag is used by Slovakia's government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
