St. Vincent and the Grenadines adopted this flag in 1985 after gaining independence from Britain. The 3 green diamonds form a "V" which stands for Vincent and gives the flag its nickname, "the gems." Additionally, blue symbolizes the sea and sky, yellow represents sand, sunshine, and the warmth of the Caribbean people, and green represents the land's vegetation and the people's vigor.
This outdoor flag is made from durable 200-Denier nylon that has been treated to resist fading. The flag is finished with a sturdy white canvas heading and grommets. Its image is dyed, single-sided, and reversed on the back.
This flag is used by St. Vincent and the Grenadines's government and displayed at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
