Do you know how "Old Glory" got her name? Historians say that the name was originally bestowed by William Driver, an early nineteenth-century American sea captain. The name also refers specifically to the flag owned by Driver that he hid during the Civil War to keep Rebel forces from destroying the well known flag "Old Glory" which he flew on his ship.
The standard size flag for a home is 3 ft. x 5 ft. Flags that are 2 ft. x 3 ft. and smaller are commonly used on boats. Flags sized 5 ft. by 9 ½ ft. are used for draping caskets.
