Assisting McCoy in the flag raising were FlagandBanner.com team members Wesley Wygal and Kody Strickland.

The oversized commemorative flag is the official design authorized by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and manufactured by Annin Flagmakers, the oldest flag manufacturer in the United States. It now flies proudly above the 1916 red-brick landmark on Little Rock's historic West 9th Street, visible to passersby and a bold declaration that the nation's 250th birthday is almost here. "There is something deeply meaningful about flying this flag from this building," said McCoy. "Taborian Hall has been standing since 1916. It has seen history. And now it will fly the official flag of America's 250th birthday. We kind of grew up together. My 50 years in business is 20% of our country's entire life. That is a weird and wonderful thing."

The flag raising marks a significant milestone for both the company and the country. Taborian Hall, built in 1916, was once the heart of Little Rock's historic Black business district and home to the legendary Dreamland Ballroom, a renowned stop on the famous Chitlin Circuit where Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, BB King, Louis Armstrong and Cab Calloway once performed. McCoy purchased the then-deteriorating building in the early 1990s for $20,000 when most advisors urged her to walk away. Under her stewardship and through nearly $1.5 million in secured grant funding, the building has been fully restored and the Dreamland Ballroom is once again ADA accessible and open to the community.

The sight of a giant America 250 flag flying over that storied building carries a resonance that goes well beyond retail. "This building has survived more than a century of American history," McCoy said. "Flying this flag here feels right. It feels like exactly what this building and this street deserve."
