Flag and Banner celebrates 50 years with week long sale and events

Historic Little Rock business marks golden milestone with massive sale, community events, and daily celebrations

LITTLE ROCK, AR – August 15, 2025 – Arkansas’ FlagandBanner.com, the state's original flag company and the first online flag company in the world, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a week of special events with their beloved and rare 50% off sale from August 25-29, 2025. The celebration honors five decades of American pride, work, and community service that began with founder Kerry McCoy's $400 investment in 1975.

Golden Anniversary Sale and Festivities

The anniversary week kicks off Monday, August 25, with a store-wide 50% discount on all merchandise at the company's historic showroom located in Taborian Hall at 800 W. 9th Street in downtown Little Rock.

"Starting with $400 and selling flags door-to-door, I have lived the American dream by growing my small business into a multi-million-dollar company serving customers nationwide," said Kerry McCoy, founder and president of FlagandBanner.com. "This event is our way of sharing our historical building with the public, thanking the community that has supported us for five decades, and celebrating the resurrection of our 80-foot flagpole on the 630 freeway."

From Humble Beginnings to National Recognition

Arkansas Flag and Banner's story began in 1975 when Kerry McCoy returned to her hometown with $400 in savings and a determination to fill a gap in the local market. After discovering that Arkansas had no flag companies and the state was purchasing flags from out-of-state vendors, McCoy launched her business from her North Little Rock home.

The company has adapted to technological changes, and grown through major national events including three wars, two recessions and one pandemic. McCoy embraced the Internet in 1995, changing the company name to FlagandBanner.com and becoming the first flag company online.

Today, FlagandBanner.com operates as a multi-million-dollar distributor, retailer, and manufacturer with over 22,000 products available online and a second location in North Miami, Florida.

Historic Taborian Hall

The company moved its headquarters in 1991 to Little Rock in the Taborian Hall, saving a piece of history and thereby adding historical significance to the anniversary celebration. Built in 1916, the three-story building has been on the Historic National Register since 1991. The structure originally served the African American community (as headquarters for the Knights and Daughters of Tabor, Ask Matt for clarification) and as home to the Dreamland Ballroom, where jazz legends performed during the 1920s and 1930s.

McCoy purchased the deteriorating building in 1991 for $20,000 and has invested significantly in its restoration. The ongoing preservation project has received federal African American Civil Rights Grants totaling nearly $1 million to restore the Dreamland Ballroom and making it ADA compliant.

Community Impact

Beyond flag sales, FlagandBanner.com has become known for community service and patriotic education. The company regularly accepts worn flags to be retired respectfully. McCoy also hosts the radio show "Up in Your Business with Kerry McCoy" and publishes Brave Magazine, which features stories of American courage and patriotism.

"We've always been more than a flag store," McCoy noted. "We’re experts in the flag business, where real people answer the phone. And I’m proud to say that my children have been bitten by the patriotic bug and will continue the legacy of FlagandBanner.com.”
